UKTV Play launches on Freesat

Freesat, the UK’s subscription-free satellite TV platform, has added catch-up service UKTV Play to its on demand offering.

From today, Freesat customers will be able to watch shows from Dave, Yesterday, Really and Drama via the UKTV Play app or directly via the rollback TV guide. The addition of UKTV Play further reinforces Freesat’s commitment to deliver the very best free-to-air content to customers in over two million homes across the country.

UKTV Play is a free video on demand (VOD) service giving viewers access to exclusive UKTV Originals and thousands of hours from the network’s extensive archive, including themed collections spanning comedy and drama, to paranormal and history.

The addition of UKTV Play means that Freesat consumers have even more ways to enjoy their favourite content, plus the opportunity to ‘binge’ on boxsets of popular shows such as multi-award winning Taskmaster, hit comedy Red Dwarf and brand-new Judge Romesh. This month, UKTV Play will also be premiering Dr Christian Will See You Now and Inside the Ambulance, which until now, have only been available on the broadcaster’s W channel.

Hugo Allen, Head of Commercial for UKTV Play & VoD said:

“We’re excited to add Freesat to our growing portfolio of platforms. Now Freesat viewers are able to catch up with the shows they love for free and binge on an ever growing collection of box sets. UKTV Play offers instant access to brilliant UKTV Originals and a host of exciting acquisitions, so Freesat viewers will have plenty of new shows to enjoy in 2018 and beyond.”

Alistair Thom, Managing Director of Freesat, said:

“We are delighted to now offer UKTV Play on Freesat, giving customers the option to watch programmes from UKTV’s biggest channels, on demand and subscription free. Making the most compelling content available to customers without subscription is what Freesat is all about.”

The launch of UKTV Play adds to Freesat’s expanding on demand line up which features catch up services including BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, YouTube and Demand 5, as well as optional pay services including Netflix, TV Player Plus and Rakuten TV. All of which have driven the company to industry-leading levels of customer satisfaction.
