Top Up TV confirms channel line-up for Anytime

Top Up TV, the UK’s digital terrestrial pay-TV operator, has confirmed its revamped service will launch in the autumn. Designed to complement Freeview’s stronger channel line-up, Top Up TV Anytime will offer customers more than 100 programmes at any time from a range of 18 channels. Programmes will be stored on a Thomson-manufactured digital television recorder, which will also receive all the Freeview channels.

Top Up TV, which announced its restructured business model in June, said new programmes would be added daily “to ensure that there is always something new to watch”. All the current Top Up TV channels (UKTV Gold, Discovery Factual, Discovery Lifestyle, TCM, British Eurosport, The Cartoon Network, UKTV Style, UKTV Food, Boomerang, Toonami & Bloomberg), will be available, as well as MTV, The Hallmark Channel, Livingtv, Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, Paramount Comedy Channel, and Life & Times.

Subscriptions for the Top Up TV Anytime service will cost £9.99 per month. The digital TV recorder—which will enable customers to record two channels at the same time—will cost £180 for new subscribers, though for a limited time current Top Up TV customers will be able to purchase the device for under £100.

A Top Up TV spokesman said: “The launch of Top Up TV Anytime is a very important milestone for Top Up TV. Our constant research, among both Top Up TV customers and Freeview viewers has shown that our customers want more quality content, available to view at a time that suits them. We have designed Top Up TV Anytime to try to deliver this and dramatically improve our customers TV enjoyment.” Five acquired a strategic stake in Top Up TV last year.
