TalkTalk renews Sky channel carriage

talktalkTalkTalk has renewed its agreement with Sky to provide its customers with ongoing access to its basic and premium channels.
The latest multi-year agreement covers entertainment channels Sky 1, Sky Arts and Sky Living as well as premium channels Sky Sports and Sky Cinema. Pay-per-view service Sky Box Office is also included, but there’s no mention of Sky Atlantic.

Commenting on the deal, Aleks Habdank, Managing Director, TalkTalk TV, said:
“This deal is an unequivocal demonstration of TalkTalk’s continued commitment to TV. Our service is going from strength to strength and our ambition to be the UK’s best value for money TV provider – offering customers flexible access to the widest range of free and paid for content – is firmly on track.”

Mark Winterbottom, Business Development Director at Sky added:
“This deal enables its customers to enjoy the quality and breadth of Sky’s content for years to come, and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to broad distribution.”

TalkTalk launched its TV offering, which is powered by YouView, in 2012 and currently has around 1.4 million customers. The service is a hybrid of terrestrially delivered channels via the Freeview signal and pay TV channels delivered via the internet. It is currently the only YouView based service that includes any of Sky’s main entertainment channels.
