The STV Player service has launched on Sky, giving viewers access to STV content across all major TV platforms for the first time.
Sky customers will now be able to catch up with STV programmes including Coronation Street and I’m A Celebrity, which starts next month, as well as viewing all of STV’s local programming.
The launch follows confirmation earlier this year of STV’s five-year strategic partnership with Sky. It comes after STV Player launched on Virgin Media in December 2018.
Sky customers in Scotland can now watch all STV programs on the service, including I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, which starts next month, and all of STV’s local programming.
The launch follows the announcement of STV’s five-year strategic partnership with Sky earlier this year. The agreement gives Sky customers in Scotland access to STV’s regional variants in full HD, as well as STV Player, on their Sky Q and Sky+ set-top boxes for the first time. Included are programs such as Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice UK.
STV launched as the UK’s first fully regionalized HD public service channel on the Sky platform earlier this year. The launch of STV Player on Sky will be followed by a further roll-out of the player to Sky Go users later this year.
As part of the launch, STV Player will sell its own advertising inventory on the Sky platform through a partnership with ad tech provider Freewheel.
“The STV Player is the most popular commercial broadcast player in Scotland and we’re delighted to be working in partnership with Sky to expand its reach across the country,” said Richard Williams, STV’s managing director of digital, in a statement.
