Sky has launched the first phase of its remote recording facility for Sky+ customers. The service allows users to schedule a programme recording on the move with their mobile phone. After downloading the ‘Sky By Mobile’ application, the user can navigate the seven-day Sky EPG and select a show to record. An alternative method of making a recording is via SMS, which requires users to text the programme details – including programme name, channel, time and date – to a dedicated number. An online version of the service will be rolled out later this summer.
To link a mobile phone to a Sky+ or Sky HD box – up to eight phones can be registered to one box – users must press ‘Interactive’ on the Sky+ remote, select ‘Sky Active’, then ‘My Sky’ and follow the instructions for remote registration.
