Sales of Sky’s new high definition (HD) TV boxes will start to the general public from April 12th. A Sky HD box will cost £299 plus a HD subscription of £10 a month in addition to the existing Sky Digital subscription. As an introductory offer, standard installation of Sky HD is free for all new or existing Sky Digital subscribers taking a Sky HD subscription while initial stocks last or until 31st May 2006. Installs for Sky HD are due to begin in May. Sky HD boxes will have 160GB of personal storage space – equivalent to 30 hours of HD programmes – and will also offer Sky+ functionality, allowing viewers to pause and rewind live TV and record two channels simultaneously.
