Italians state broadcaster RAI has launched its 24 hour news channel Rai News 24 as a free to air signal on the Astra 1 position at 19.2 degrees East. Rai News 24 broadcasts around the clock with news in Italian.
“We are very pleased that we can expand our partnership with RAI,” said Wolfgang Elsässer, VP sales Central and Western Europe SES.
“In addition to the 2.1 million television households in Italy that receive TV channels via Astra 19.2, we can now also provide around two million Italians, who live in Western Europe, with news in their native language. This is a nice increase in reach for RAI.”
Antonio Di Bella, director RAI News 24, added: “We are very pleased to be working with Astra. Now we reach our compatriots in Europe at the very important satellite position of 19.2 degrees.”
Since the end of 2013, the threeHD channels RAI 1 HD, RAI 2 HD and RAI 3 HD are available via the 19.2 degrees East position as part of the Tivùsat platform.
