ITV Player app now with live streaming

itvplayerITV has launched a second version of its ITV Player app for Apple devices. The new version includes live streaming, AirPlay mirroring support and the ability for users to switch seamlessly between catch-up and live content within the app and the video player component.
Users will be able to access live streams of ITV1 and ITV2, including the Euro 2012 tournament, via W-Fi and 3G. Selected coverage on ITV3 and ITV4—such as the Tour de France, will also be streamed via the app.

“Following the launch of the ITV Player on Apple devices in June last year, we have seen a massive demand for the product with over 4 million downloads to date,” said James Micklethwait, Director, ITV Player, “We are therefore really excited to be releasing this updated version with an array of new features offering an even better user experience. We are especially pleased to be launching live streaming within the app ensuring our football fans can enjoy all this summer’s ITV Euro 2012 action on the move.”

Content switching from within the video player component will allow users to switch between live channels and catch-up content simultaneously. AirPlay mirroring support will also allow viewers to connect their iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and New iPad via this new feature in order to view ITV content on full screen through Apple TV or a HDMI connection.
The app is now available to download from the iTunes store for use across iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. There is no information on when live streaming will be available on Android or windows devices.
