ITV Celebrating 60 Years

itv 60 yearsITV exploded onto British TV screens on 22nd September 1955 and for the past 60 years has been home to some of TV’s biggest and best loved programmes.
To commemorate this landmark occasion, ITV are celebrating with a host of special programmes this September culminating in a live hour‐long episode of Coronation Street.

For six decades, ITV has entertained, thrilled and informed the nation with a raft of ground breaking dramas, comedies, headline‐grabbing documentaries and award‐winning soaps.
From the sharp talking Ena Sharples and Downton’s Dowager Countess, to the warm‐hearted world of Ma and Pa Larkin, from catchphrases including ‘a lorra lorra laughs’ and ‘no likey, no lighty’ to the memorable theme tunes of The Sweeney or Thunderbirds – ITV has entered the hearts and minds of the nation.

ITV Changed My Life reveals the impact ITV has had on some people’s lives, including the first Blind Date couple to marry and the emotional story of how This Morning saved a 38 stone viewers’ life.
Across six episodes, Britain As Seen on ITV tells the story of our changing nation through extraordinary real‐life footage seen on our screens over the last 60 years.
