Austrian Radio (ORF)

Austria (Österreich), officially the Republic of Austria (Republik Österreich), is a landlocked East Alpine country in the southern part of Central Europe. It is composed of nine federated states (Bundesländer), one of which is Vienna, Austria’s capital and its largest city. It is bordered by Germany to the northwest, the Czech Republic to the north, Slovakia to the northeast, Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. Austria occupies an area of 83,879 km2 (32,386 sq mi) and has a population of nearly 9 million people. While German is the country’s official language, many Austrians communicate informally in a variety of Bavarian dialects.

Ö1 Hitradio Ö3 FM4
Österreich 1 (Ö1) is an Austrian radio station: one of the four national channels operated by Austria’s public broadcaster ORF. It focuses on classical music and opera, jazz, documentaries and features, news, radio plays and dramas, Kabarett, quiz shows, and discussions. Hitradio Ö3 is one of the nationwide radio stations of Austria’s public broadcaster ORF. The format focuses on contemporary hit radio, specialising pop music and chart hits from the 1980s to the present. Ö3 has the biggest audience share by far of all Austrian radio stations. FM4 is the youth audience, and much of the music output is characterised by alternative rock and electronic music slant. The programming of FM4 is also notable for its high level of spoken word content, much of which is produced in the English language.

Radio Oberösterreich is the regional radio for Upper Austria and is part of the Österreich 2 group. It is broadcast by the ORF, and the programs from Radio Oberösterreich are made in the ORF Oberösterreich Studio. Radio Salzburg is the regional radio for Salzburg and is part of the Österreich 2 group. It is broadcast by the ORF, and the programs from Radio Salzburg are made in the ORF Salzburg Studio. Radio Steiermark is the regional radio for Styria, and is part of the Österreich 2 group. It is broadcast by the ORF, and the programs from Radio Steiermark are made in the ORF Steiermark Studio.
