Freesports to leave Freeview

Premier Sports free-to-air sports channel, FreeSports will close on 30 June 2022. The channel was available on a limited basis across the UK, and is affected by the closure of Freeview frequencies to make way for 5G capacity for mobile operator EE.
The channel provided as-live coverage of Scottish League Cup and European matches featuring Scottish teams. The channel will continue on Sky, Virgin Media, Samsung TV Plus and online.

There are several changes taking place on Freeview next week, with two retune events taking place on 29 and 30 June 2022.
This will see some channels closing, some new channels launching, channel numbers changing and some channels gaining wider coverage on the Freeview platform across the UK.

On the 29 June 2022 the following changes will take place:

  • Channel 31 – 4 Music will close and be replaced with E4 Extra
  • Channel 83 – Together TV will have wider UK coverage
  • Channel 95 – Craft Extra will be removed (the channel closed in February 2022)
  • Channel 106 – BBC Four HD will have wider UK coverage
  • Channel 205 – CBeebies HD will have wider UK coverage

 

On the 30 June 2022 the following changes will take place:

  • Channel 41 – Horror will close and will be replaced with Legend
  • Channel 65 – FreeSports will close
  • Channel 68 – CBS Drama will be renamed Reality Xtra
  • Channel 69 – CBS Justice will close
  • Channel 71 – Quest Red +1 will have wider UK coverage
  • Channel 77 – NOW 80s – Manchester coverage only
  • Channel 86 – More 4 +1 will close
  • Channel 87 – PBS America +1 will close
  • Channel 91 – That’sTV will move on 29 June with wider UK coverage and then change channel number on 30th to channel 65
  • Channel 92 – That’s Music > Classic Hits – will have wider UK coverage and will change channel number to channel 91
  • Channel 96 – Forces TV will close
  • Channel 107 – BBC News HD will close. Still available in standard definition on channel 231
  • Channel 111 – QVC HD will close. Still available in standard definition on channel 16
  • Channel 112 – QVC Beauty HD will close. Still available in standard definition on channel 37
  • Channel 112 – Quest HD will close. Still available in standard definition on channel 12

You will need to perform a retune on your Freeview TV or set-top box (if it doesn’t do channel changes automatically) on or after midday on 30 June 2022 to get all the channel changes.
