DTG thanks Emma Scott for her contribution to UK digital TV

dtgThe Digital TV Group (DTG) has paid tribute to Freesat Managing Director Emma Scott, who is standing down seven years after launching Britain’s free satellite TV platform.

Scott was launch director for Freesat at the BBC from 2006 and has seen the free TV service grow to become the main TV service in almost two million British homes.

Freesat reinvigorated free-to-air satellite with the launch of Freetime, which provides catch-up TV from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Five using the viewer’s broadband connection, as well as YouTube and other online TV services.

Richard Lindsay-Davies, Chief Executive of the DTG, said: “Since we launched the platform with Freesat in 2008, Emma’s drive and tenacity has helped Freesat mature into the valuable and innovative platform we see today, benefiting both consumers and industry.”

The technical specification for Freeview, known as the D-Book, which is published and maintained by the DTG is the foundation for the Freesat technical specification. The industry’s Test Centre, DTG Testing, also provides the broadcast receiver interoperability regime for Freesat.
