BBC Two HD has launched

BBC Two HD has now launched on all digital TV platforms. Homes Under The Hammer became the first programme on the new service.
The channel now replaces BBC HD. It launched at 6:03am this morning following a special night of vintage and current testcards filling the gap between the last BBC HD programme and the start of BBC Two HD.
The BBC HD feed switched over to BBC Two into an ident and a trail promoting BBC innovation followed by two trails for forthcoming BBC Two programmes.
Speaking of the launch of BBC Two HD, BBC Two’s controller, Janice Hadlow said: “BBC One HD is already much loved by audiences, and I hope that BBC Two HD will be as popular with viewers, enabling them to see the very best of BBC Two looking its very best.”

However, the channel launch has left BBC Three, Four, CBBC and CBeebies programmes without an HD outlet, although there have been strong hints of late that additional HD services from the BBC will launch in 2014, when additional terrestrial TV capacity becomes available for HD channels.
According to the BBC’s director of Distribution, Alix Pryde, series links for BBC Two shows that were previously aired on BBC HD will transfer across to the new BBC Two HD channel for most viewers. Viewers using Virgin Media’s V+HD platform will need to reset series links.
There is one single network version of BBC Two HD. Viewers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be able to watch programmes from BBC Two England on the channel, with their local output continuing on standard definition BBC Two and BBC One Scotland / Wales / Northern Ireland HD.
Sky channel changes

A Sky EPG reshuffle took place earlier today, which will saw BBC One HD move to 141 and BBC Alba to 143. The new BBC Two HD channel is now on channel 142. There are no changes to BBC services on other digital TV platforms, where BBC Two is now available in high definition on the old BBC HD channel number.
