BBC Worldwide is preparing to launch its drama-skewing channel brand BBC First in Singapore after linking up with local pay TV operator StarHub.
Singapore will become the first country in South-East Asia where the brand will be available, offering shows including Sherlock, War & Peace and Luther.
It will be available as an SVoD service to StarHub subscribers and is set to launch on April 4, with viewers able to watch via connected TVs and on mobile devices.
BBC First is one of three channel brands being rolled out by BBC Worldwide, along with factual-skewing BBC Earth and male-focused BBC Brit.
Monty Ghai, senior VP and general manager of BBC Worldwide South-East Asia, said: “Viewers in Singapore recognise and appreciate the intelligent and distinctive content of BBC drama. BBC First is the ideal platform for us to deliver the best and latest BBC dramas to Singapore fans to watch anytime they want.”
Ghai added that subscribers would soon be able to watch dramas within 24 hours of their original transmission.
