The launch of Arianespace flight VA209 (Astra 2F) has been tentatively re-scheduled for September 28, 2012 – pending the completion of these additional verifications involving the Payload Fairing of the launcher. The 2,600-Kilogram Fairing of the Arianespace Launch Vehicle was built by RUAG Space.
It is 10 meters in length and 5.4 meters in diameter and accommodates the dual payload of the launcher. According to unconfirmed source information, the additional work became necessary due to possible dust contamination of the fairing as a result of a faulty duct.
