Telecommunications satellites Astra 2E, manufactured by EADS Astrium (France) for satellite operator SES (Luxemburg) has arrived at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, in preparation for the upcoming launch aboard a “Proton-M” rocket (upper stage “Briz-M “).
Transport aircraft AN-124 Astra 2E spacecraft and ground support equipment (IEE) landed at the Cosmodrome on the morning of June 14, 2013.
After the customs checks and unloading were completed, the container with the spacecraft was transported by rail to the launch site assembly and testing building pad 92A-50 launch site.
The spacecraft will be housed in finishing chamber 103 Mica, where over the next few days tests will be carried out. These will include a series of electrical and functional inspections, and tests on the refuelling unit propellants.
