TRT World has begun testing an HD service aimed at viewers in the UK and Ireland, on the Astra 2 group of satellites at 28.2°E.
TRT is moving ahead with the rapid expansion of their international news service, first launched with limited coverage in 2015, with roll-out on further satellites by mid 2017, providing coverage in most parts of the world.
There has been no announcement to date as to whether TRT World will be carried on the Sky or Freesat platforms. Viewers can manually tune in the channel via Sky’s other channels menu or non-Freesat mode on Freesat receivers. The channel is funded by the Turkish state.
