Sky Deutschland has added a new sports package to its streaming service Sky Ticket for €9.99 (US$11) per month.
The Sport Ticket offering will provide subscribers with highlights from the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga, German soccer’s top two tiers, as well as from the Uefa Champions League, European club soccer’s premier competition.
Subscribers will also get access to live games from English soccer’s top-flight Premier League and the DFB-Pokal, Germany’s club knockout tournament. Other sports included in the package are Formula One, handball, tennis and golf.
Bundesliga CEO Seifert reluctant to increase domestic pay-TV broadcasters
Fans can still watch live Bundesliga and Champions League games on Sky Ticket but will have to fork out €29.99 (US$33.50) a month for the platform’s Supersport Ticket offering.
The launch of the new package comes shortly after Sky Deutschland chief executive Carsten Schmidt confirmed that the broadcaster had failed to retain rights to the Champions League from the 2021/22 season, with sports streaming subscription service DAZN securing coverage of the competition.
A package of Champions League rights in Germany has also been picked up by technology giant Amazon, which will stream the top pick of matches played on Tuesday evenings for three seasons from 2021.
