Orange has started legal action against TF1 for abuse of a dominant position in a dispute over the distribution of the broadcaster’s TV channels, reports Les Echos quoting an unnamed source.
The case is the latest chapter in a long-running battle which has seen TF1 trying to impose a substantial increase in carriage fees for its TV channels.
In April, the broadcaster reportedly sent an ultimatum to a number of its distribution partners, including Orange and SFR, threatening to put an end to the distribution of its channels over their OTT services. While this threat failed to materialise, in May SFR reportedly asked French broadcast regulator CSA to mediate in the dispute.
