Ilse Howling to leave Digital UK

Ilse Howling, Digital UK’s managing director of connected TV, will leave the organisation at the end of February.
Prior to working at Digital UK, Ms Howling (pictured) was the managing director of Freeview and was instrumental in the success of the platform. She joined Digital UK in 2014 to lead the development phase of the connected TV service Freeview Play.

Digital UK has also announced the departure of its chief operating office Alex Pumfrey, who will leave at the end of next month.
Said Jonathan Thompson, chief executive of Digital UK: “I would like to express my huge appreciation of the contribution that Ilse and Alex have made to television and to the continuing evolution of Freeview as the UK’s most widely used service.”

There have been further changes to the senior team at Digital UK, with two new appointments.

James Jackson has been promoted to the role of technology director – he was previously responsible for programme management of Freeview Play – and Kate Macefield is now programme director for 700MHz Clearance, leading the co-ordination of forthcoming major spectrum changes.

Ms Macefield will manage the move of Freeview channels to new airwaves to free up frequencies for the next generation of broadband services.
