Channel 5 HD has transferred from Sky capacity to transponder 57, the frequency used to broadcast Channel 5’s family of channels.
The channel, is now officially labelled as “Channel 5HD” and is carrying EPG information for the first time.
Sky viewers do not need to take any action, the changes should have been processed automatically. Channel 5 HD remains encrypted at present, the channel is expected to join terrestrial platform Freeview and Freesat in the near future. Channel 5 HD is expected to abandon encryption and become free-to-air soon.
Neither Channel 5, or Viacom, have as yet released any information on when Channel 5 HD will become more widely available.
